Birds of America in Decline Series
2021-2022
Asphalt on cement and plaster mounted on wood panels
12" x 9" each panel, 82" x 130" overall (variable)

This ongoing series is a new format of an older series that also used asphalt on cement panels.

The asphalt and cement refer to the loss of habitat to human expansion which is one of the main causes of declining bird populations.

The use of Audubon's images from his "Birds of America" series refers to a period in the past when the bird populations in America were more abundant.

The silhouettes represent loss, the shadows left behind in memory only.
